- a  practical workshop with intrernational edible landscape designer

at Edible Treecrop Farm, Todd Valley, NELSON

Sat 25 & Sun 26 AUG,  9.30am – 4.30pm

The workshop will cover:
•       Permaculture orchard design
•       Whole property edible landscaping
•       Organic management methods
•       Forest garden patterning
•       Species selection
•       Guild combinations & planting
•       Irrigation needs
•       Pruning & tree care

The focus of Saturday is design, including design for your own property (bring maps and microclimate information), and the focus of Sunday is hands-on orchard maintenance experience (if possible pruning equipment and spade).

Tutors Background
Huckleberry is a qualified landscaper, zoologist, permaculture designer, builder and community development worker. For the past 30 years he has been owner - consultant of GREENWORLD company, specialising in edible and sustainable landuse design and installation, in northwest USA.   For several years, Huckleberry worked as a plant adviser for Raintree Nursery (USA-wide plant mail order) and an educator-designer & plant materials collector for the International Fruit Tree Foundation.  His work involves wild foods foraging and seed collecting for nursery propagation.  He has worked as a plant collector, landscape designer and educator in USA, Canada, Chile, Patagonia, Costa Rica, Britain, South Africa and New Zealand. Huckleberry is now a New Zealand resident, and lives in Golden Bay.  He is establishing his work in Nelson and Tasman regions and is available for property consultations & installations. Huckleberry will be assisted in this workshop by permaculture designer-educator and organic grower, Robina McCurdy, from Golden Bay.

COST:
One Day:  $55 - $100  (income based sliding scale)
Both Days:  $90 - $180    10% discount for couples.
(includes handouts and design materials)
PLUS a surprise plant gift (eg herbs, veges, fruit trees, berry canes,
native plants) for the property - such as seeds, cuttings, root
division small fruit tree, vegetable seedlings, native wilding plant,
nursery plant voucher etc.

Lunch:  Please bring something yummy to share for a Pot Luck lunch
(both days).
